After following the discussion on Tip valve and evac and doing the mod, I still smelled gas and on closer look have found a little bit of fuel running down the tank. So removed the tank shrouds and can see fuel coming out at the base of the neck for the fuel pump when I turn the key on and the pump pressurizes. The picture is the forward area of the neck and it leaks just forward of my finger, right at the base of the tank meets the neck.

I don't understand why the pump pushes fuel out an apparent crack in the neck? I assumed it was just leaking when tank was full and it was sloshing into that cracked spot. Does the fuel pump spay fuel or pressures the tank?

Is there a good product to seal the leak?

The return sprays a 45lbs bleed back in tank from pump so it almost pressure the tank, could be spraying at that spot also if mounted right below.

This is something that I would ask for your selling and/or servicing dealer to speak to Moto Guzzi about on your behalf. They may very likely, "Goodwill" it for you being such an unusual failure.

OK Steve, thank you. good to know. I have no clue how new fuel systems work. I think I'll turn the pump 180* and see if it seeps. If not I'll patch it with something. If any one knows what kind of plastic is used it might help with patching with the best compound.

Scott, I guess I should check but I don't think I'll get far with it. A couple months ago when the final drive output shaft bearing failed one month after warranty I got a shrug. Plus I'm 960 miles away : (.

Good news! The local MG dealer has agreed to pursue a goodwill claim with MG. No guarantees but at lease they'll try. They're in Tucson, I bought it in Ft Collins so I feel good about that.

Well imagine that.

That’s a good dealership you should support. They are acting on your behalf. Good for them and you!

Remember, you catch more success with honey than vinegar. 😆

I wish you success!

If I was any sweeter to the service manager, he'd be in a diabetic coma. They are charging $180 for a look at it. Shrouds are off, takes less then a minute to turn the key on and see it seep out the crack. They are willing to try but less then hopefull Piaggio will play. New tank with nothing on it - $1200.
