Just got it firing!
I recently installed a set on my 2017 touring. Mine look exactly
same, gap wise, as yours. I think you are good to go...

folks, I installed them today on my 2017 Cal 1400 Touring. The gap between the upper plate and the bottom is much bigger than before. Should I be concerned. Let me know. I have also emailed their sales. This is the first upgrade/change I'm doing on my bike.
before and after (front and back) pics:
Please make all bolts lose again. THIS time, tighten the FRONT bolts first so that the gap is closed. THEN, tighten the REAR bolts and torque to 20 ft-lbs. THEN torque the FRONT bolts to 20 ft-lbs. This will leave little or no gap in the front of and a gap in the REAR. Doing this you will increase the load needed pushing down to allow the bars to rotate. This is what you want since we rarely, if ever, find ourselves lifting up on the bars.
I agree with you . Very good product . I have them on my touring .After 1000km the risers have proven to be perfect. Not only more comfortable, but as someone said earlier, the feeling of enhanced control is evident.
