TECH: U.S. Turn-signal UPDATE

When I added the Euro turn signals I had the shop add more connectors and run with the mirror signals. no problems other than some condensation inside one lens. it also looks so much better than the black dummy signal. I just pulled the clips off carefully when adding the turn signals and used a nut driver to flatten the clips before I reinstalled them.

Do the Euro fairing built-in turn signals on the'15 Stelvio just have the lenses painted over? Anyone try removing the cover paint successfully? Seems like it could be done. Or just buy 2 new lens covers.
Is there a Y-splitter available to run both the built-in signals with the mirror signals?
Are the electrical plugs used on the Stelvio wiring (like the turn signal wire plug), available to purchase and adapt.

I believe the mirror turn signals are much more "visible" and more noticeable by traffic than the lower built in signals of the fairing. Having both would be wonderful.

While the stock US turns are painted over, they also lack al lot the internal connectors and bulbs. I highly recommend buying them plug and play. They aren't that expensive. There isn't a splitter available no, and if you did run both, you'll be fighting correct resistance to get them to flash at a regular rate. Hope that helps.
 
I have a '14 Stelvio NTX. Thought swapping the turns to the Euro version would be simple. Not so much. Supposedly the '14 is plug and play per other sites, but here it's not. Comment #13. Plug and play sounds great, but how do I get the connector out of the US turn signal/mirror housing? And unfortunately I wasn't paying attention and the original signal wire is nicked pretty good. Feeling like I've pissed away $200. If it needs spliced how do I get it connected to the new Euro indicator? What type of connector is needed and where do I get it?

You don't. The other end of the stock signal wire from the mirror has a plug. That is what you unplug, not the actual stock signal on the mirror.

I've disconnected at the plug. At this point the mirror/turn is trash, including it's wire? The plug wire looks short, I didn't trace the wire for length. Do I need to move the plug wire so that it can reach the new Euro turn? I'm under the impression that I need the wire from the mirror/turn. I'm feeling like I made the common mistake of overthinking a problem.
 
You don't need the wire from the mirror/signal. The plug will reach although it is a bit on the short side. May need some rerouting but from what I remember it will be a straight shot. You may need to connect/Disconnect the plug while the side fairing is on the bike. Like I said, it is short. Other thing you can do is plug the connector into the bulb and then install the bulb into the housing. Either method works. Don't over think it. It is not as complicated as it seems.

Install the Euros and then you will see what room you have to play with. The stock plug will plug right into the Euro lights.

As stated, the stock plug location where the Euro turns reside is perfect length. They run an extension to the mirrors, so you can remove that section. You should have seen just how poorly the first few model years were done... literally two loose wires crudely taped together, something that a Jr. High School student with no resources might do it. Luckily they did use the stock plug on the mirror side.

Only advise on Mt Washington is check the weather the day you will go and plan accordingly. We managed to get to the top and then they closed the road behind us as the winds and cloud cover at the top were barely ride-able. When we got back down there was a bunch of bikers that were waiting for it to re-open but they were told it may be a few hours. Not sure what ended up happening as we left. Was an interesting ride back down to say the least.
