V7 III - removing triple

Hey - is there some sort of trick to removing the triple tree? I recently did the bar conversion and the hardest part was getting that triple tree off of the forks. Not sure if I needed some sort of special tool or something.

Are you talking about just sliding the forks out of the tree ?

Or removing the tree from the frame / head set bearing ?

Loosening the bolts top and bottom should release the forks - I did put a Wedge in the seem / crack / opening to spread them the tiniest bit to make it easy to slide the new Forks in on the Honda when I changed them...

Yeah that's exactly what I meant. Carter loosening the two side screws and the center bolt the top piece didn't want to slide up at all. I had to remove it in order to remove the clip ons from the racer.
 
The outside bolts & center big nut off AND tap up from underneath with a big rubber mallet. Leave bottom bolts tight on triple bottom yoke for fork legs to stay still. Top plate should come up, use oil on fork tube to make it slide if needed.
 
To get the top triple clamp off it helps to remove any loading on it. If the bike is sitting on the ground there will be a side load between the clamp and the forks. If you jack the front end up into the air there will still be a side load between the clamp and the forks, just in the other direction.
If you raise the front end off the ground, then grab the front wheel and lightly support / lift it, you should be able to balance out that load and make it come off without excessive force.
