V85TT NHTSA RECALL NOTICES

Sorry I call BS! They were ordered to do the recall before selling the bikes. Did they do the rest of the recall items. if your not aware research here.
I agree, there's no excuse for a bike sold in April not to have had the recall work done prior to delivery.
AF1 said they could not let the bike leave the shop without the recall work being done and I'm sure other dealers are the same.
 
2020 V85tt. Purchased bike in April 2020. Dealer delivered 125 miles to my driveway. Traded my '09 BMW R1200GS. First ride about 40 miles; really pleased. After ride beer, I noticed a small amount of oil on rear rim. Wiped it up and didn't worry about it. Next day, did some research and found a guy saying there was a safety recall on this known issue. Did another 40 miles. Noticed oil spun off the rim toward the tires grip surface. Damn, leak didn't fix itself! E-mail dealer; Oh, yeah, gotta replace a seal. Can you bring it to us this week. Not being set up to carry a broken bike 125 miles, I told him I'd see what I could do. He relented and sent one of his guys to pick it up. He did request that I figure out a way to come get it after repair. Fair enough. He didn't have to come get it; can't blame the dealer for the factory's screw-ups. Anyway, got a trailer hitch installed on my Jeep and bought a small motorcycle trailer. They had the repair done in about 4 days; went and retrieved it. So far, so good. Keepin' an eye on it...

Getting close to 800 miles with no further leakage from the final drive. The break-in service is due at 900, according to the owners' manual. I already have all the parts and fluids to complete the work, (hopefully, the valve cover gaskets are reusable. We shall see).
I'm really liking this machine. It handles extremely well, gets 55.7 mpg consistently, and is nice to look at. I did add some, "Grip Buddies" to the grips; the throttle spring is a little to strong; these seem to help.

I reused the original tappet cover gaskets when i did my tappet adjustment, no leaks :happy:
 
Well congrats and welcome to the GT Forum & Guzzi Famiglia! I always admire those who ride around debilitating injuries... kudos to you. I would do the same. I'm sure you'll love it even more once you pile some miles on. They don't settle in until ~10k miles. My good friend Robert lives up in Georgetown and has the "McDonald's" colored version. I was not made aware of any recall service. I'll inquire service #2 coming up soon. Coincidentally, I found the circlip on the right footpeg about halfway on the other day. I had an oil leak early on coming from the sump. All bolts were tightened to spec and that cured it. I then had another oil accumulation on the bash plate. I removed it and the bolt that holds the cover on the oil filter was loose!! Disaster averted. No notice of oil on the final drive & what was the problem with the rear master? I have learned so much today on this site.I've just been enjoying the bike. I need to pay a little more attention. Thanks.

Invest a modicum of effort on your part.

Go back to the first post. Click the first NHTSA link about the issue. Go to the documents. Open Defect Notice 573 Report.

Read. It’s all right there including the affected VIN range.

Sorry for being blunt but put forth some effort on your part. The info is right there.
