2010 V7 Classic. 33k miles.

Seems early for the clutch to be worn. Only slips when pushing hard in 5th gear at high rpm and full throttle (peak torque), which suggests a worn clutch.
Anyone else had a clutch go bad this early?

Seems a bit early. If you slip the clutch a lot it would cause it. Also possible it has been contaminated by gearbox oil.

Am assuming you have the correct free play in the lever?

not much maybe 1-2mm. problem is if I get to appreciable slack on the lever, then the friction zone starts right off the grip and gear shifting is rougher as well as hard to find neutral. Seems very finicky that way...

Aye, I've found my V7i to have a Goldilocks sweetspot, but it is different from one ride to the next. Currently, my clutch has told the cable to f-off, and it isn't doing much at all, need a nice day when not working to investigate as it is un-ridable currently
