Cal 1400 Touring stock seat:
I was wondering if I can gain about an inch if I knock off the rubber bushings on a stock seat ? I'm a short rider and even gaining a few mm matters :)

The seat locks down at the rear, and is held in position at the front. You need to check that you wouldn't be causing problems there.

I think you’ll find the seat will chafe on the frame rails or even put pressure on the battery/battery cover. Personally speaking I would take the seat to an upholsterer and get them to shave off some of the seat foam.
I had mine lowered slightly, the passenger section raised and widened and the seat recovered.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll try.
I had a Monster previously and bought their low seat only to find out that it was lower but wider...net net..not much help and a waste of $$.

My diy job ☺️

A little out there but never less an option. What about extending your soles. I'm sure a boot maker can resole your boots giving that extra height needed.
