Head set bearing change

Hello, I need some advice please.

I wanted to change the headstock bearing on my Breva 1100. I took the front end appart to the point where I thought I should be able to lift off the top clamp of the triple tree after removing the 14mm Allen bolt which holds the top clamp.

Some bolts were quite hard to get out as they have never been moved in 16 years.

Do I simply have to use some force to "lift" the top clamp off or am I missing a secret bolt somewhere?

Ralf

Did you look on the underside of upper triple, can't remember if that's for the bars. I use a wedge in the slot, Comes all apart.
If all else fails look in parts book. Spray lube on tubes help to come out of triples. Bolt on stem in center has to be loose.

Thanks for the reply.

It was grime and a bit of rust and with patience and a hammer the top triple clamp came off. The whole headstock did not look too bad. A few marks on the bottom race.

I was surprised after reading a lot about dry bearings. There was plenty and still decent consistency, although it looke a little brown by now
