I have *Only* two bikes and would ride " the other one" to the gates of a local park and ask permission to ride through to the other side using what were Mountain bike trails - They would also say Ok and off I would go !

The Last time, I was told that would be illegal and I could get in trouble with the Rangers !!!
Put an end to that *Fun*

Last winter were walking some local trails looking for things to take pictures of and saw that some bicycles had been through the trails - So I picked up a Fat Tire Ebike to try out on the trails this winter.

I think of it more as an Electric trail bike with Emergency Pedal backup than an Ebike ( that's what I tell the Bicycle whiners ).
Been out a few times checking it out, but yesterday was the first *Real* outing - 38Km / 24 miles
Some paved bike paths' to get there and very few roads as " transit stages" to other paths dirt and some mud !
2120 11 21 ride
Trail tracking - TomTom GPS watch.

Very Cool I'm thinking about doing the same thing. Kind of satisfy the Dirt Bike itch, but is easier, healthier, and safer.

And the whiners can't stop you from going Anywhere...

The last time I drove the trail on the XR, it was after the park had closed and even though we were idling along the trails we got some Dirty Looks :)

Just be forewarned that if the trails are groomed for cross country skiing you are going to feel the wrath of all the skiers. That has happened up here. Fat bikes are riding everywhere and it ruins the trails for skiers. I don't care as I'm a downhill skier and I don't ride anything with less than 100 HP.

as a set track x-country skier I fell the same Way about those bloody skate skiers....
But would make sure I didn’t ride on track set trails, at l least not in the tracks !

I would LOVE to get into mountain biking, I recently watched a video by Canyon Chasers on YouTube that effectively argued the benefits for riders of crosstraining on pedal bikes. From fitness, to getting a feel for when the front/rear begins to walk out, the ability to do it in the winter, and it being less riskier in the case of a get off. Benefits all around, but the old song and dance of $ is my limiting factor. Biggest thing is it would let me do something else in the winter hahahaha

There is a network of about 35 km of MB trails that literally crosses the back of my property, Velo MSM. I helped build some of the trails but have never ridden a bike on them and never will. I used to ride 2 stroke MX bikes but mountain biking has never interested me in the least.
