Are the header nuts a special type of nut. All 4 of mine are rusted and need to be replaced. I don't want to order them from Guzzi as they will probably rust as well. Thanks

They are standard thread. Most likely M8X1.25. Take one off and go to the local hardware store.

I've just replaced mine on my B11 with brass M8 nuts specific for exhaust manifolds. The originals looked fine with no apparent rust, the outer lower two were OK, and they came off without any fuss. The inner upper two brought the stud out and were rusted up on the inside.

Mine are badly corroded and I would like to replace them with brass or stainless. But they look tricky to get off due to corrosion. If I wait a month or two, I think they will probably disintegrate completely, and I'll be able to dispense with spanners, and remove them with a wire brush.

Thanks for all the suggestions. However it now appears that the studs are pretty well gone. The suggestion I received is to just use stainless bolts and I'm leaning that way.

If you get the old studs out OK, then be sure to use an anti seize product on the bolt. Personally, I'd install new studs and use brass nuts. That minimizes problems with the heads in the future from installing and removing the bolts in an aluminum head.

I agree with your assessment but where does one get the correct replacement stud. Certainly not Guzzi as there seems to be a problem with the studs and nuts. It seems eays enough to get brass/copper nuts but not the exact stud. If I go the bolt route I will use plenty of anti-seizure product. Thanks

I've never had a stud loose threads, but I have seen them snap off. The Guzzi studs are OK to use in my opinion.
