I have a 2014 Custom. It appears mine has had a similar issue (18000 miles). Was hoping this common problem would skip me. Oh well... Todd's solution is a good one of course, but not something I can afford. Luckily, I have a few friends who can weld locally. We'll figure something out eventually....
Umm, no. I moved and had the bike shipped, and so removed the bags. Haven't run across them yet in the unpacking. They were a very simple S shape, 1/4" mild steel, around 10" in length, maybe 4 holes on each end (it WAS a universal bracket after all)... Top attach point was up at the luggage...
I bought a pair of the hard plastic bags for my 1972 Ambassador around 6 years ago. They worked great on it (using the factory bent flat iron brackets) for a couple of years. I then moved them over to my 2014 California 1400 Custom. Was able to find mounting points with the factory brackets (I...
Dead simple. Mine only needed one bolt. Seems like one of the muffler mounting bolts (or maybe it was one of the rear footpeg bolts) was convenient. It was a 15 minute job (with the wiring as part of that). Good luck with it...
Just noticed your comment. Don't have a link, other than AF1's catalog (that's where I bought it in 2015). Good Luck with finding one that doesn't cost as much as a diamond ring.

You swapped one coast for another, eh? We lived in San Juan Capistrano back in the 1980's. Wish I'd had this Cali 1400 Custom back then. Sunday drives on the Ortega Canyon Highway would've been a lot more fun...
Anyway, in Pasadena, Maryland now. Anne Arundel County (Annapolis is down the...
Guess what? You were absolutely correct. Golden, and passed a Maryland State Inspection with flying colors, nary a snag. I've done a couple of these intra-state moves and registrations over the last 30 years. Easiest one so far. Thanks again...

Thanks. Maybe I need to do a complete reset (leave the + lead off the battery a bit). But you've obviously been around the block. Any other issues you can think of that might cause a Service icon? This bike has been in storage for the last year with a tender on the battery. Fired right up after...
I used the code 34534 to reset the icon at the 6000 mile mark. I just ignored it at the 12000 mile point. Now I'm at 18000, and thought I would reset today. Guess what? It won't reset. Tried 3 times. Hasn't been to a dealer since new. Do I have another issue?
Jim
Unfortunately 34534 doesn't seem to be working on my 2014 Cali 1400 Custom anymore. Tried it 3 times this morning. A little over 18000. IIRC I used this code at the 6000 mile mark, but just ignored the wrench at the 12000 milestone. Now it won't reset...

Interesting... My 2014 Custom with Mistrals bought in 2015 don't seem to show this disparity. As it's 38F and raining, don't think I'm going out to look right now. Rest assured I will though.... ;-)
