After all the above waterproofing and replacements I reckon it is cured.
I rode 950 miles over a long weekend, from London to Ireland ( and back) through Wales. Two countries which know a thing or two about rain and all things damp.
It was a pleasure to be riding again in heavy rain with...
Another suggestion was block of metal under the foot bit. Apply heat to the stand and let the weight of the bike sink the stand back down. Worked a treat so it did.

People,
Are there two types of centre stand. I see one advertised that has a triangle in its bracing for the foot lever part. Whereas mine is more solid with a circular hole.
My foot bit is landing on the ground unsettling the stability so that means the arm is bent. 60000 miles of on and...
We have a winner so we have....
Baldrick.
Replace your plug leads was wot he said.
So I took all the plastic off. 20ish bolts
Left side first . New HT lead and clip for coil end.
Cleaned and gooped up ECU and any other connectors I saw.
Right hand side disconnected the feed to the coil which...
Having had a word with my trusted mechanic of all thing's Guzzi, he has suggested replacing my plug leads. Just need to confirm the fitting in the coil for the leads.
Which of these do I need?

It doesn't happened in the dry.
Today I went back out.
Ran great for about a minute then you could hear it running weird. Then the dash went black stripe. Started back up fine then maybe 20 seconds later it went South again so it did.
Help me somebody!!

So Wednesday was pretty wet in East London. 12 miles into my commute home Stelvio starts running real bad. Dash starts messing around. Feels like it is off a cylinder and at 3k starts to run OK. Dash is still doing crazy stuff.
Friday, bike has been drying for 36 hours after not willing to...
The locking arm for the pannier is secured by a bolt and a round headed stud that looks like you aren't supposed to remove it. Well I want to but I also would like the choice of replacing it when that time comes.
How do you remove it ?

So as my dash goes blank or inverts,
I'm going to replace plugs and caps as discussed in other threads on my 08 8v Stelvio.
Thought that I'd have a wee look at the side stand switch as well. How can you get it off? The back Allen bolt isn't really accessible. In the meantime I've sprayed it...
I use a wee pull type from a Honda or similar so I do. Zip tie it to the frame and connect the spring to your brake lever. They don't cost much so it is worth trying to see if you can make it fit. Just adjusted mine tonight as the roads are greasy and wanted earlier warning for the traffic...
Anyway today I had a good poke after a suitable amount of research.
Took rear wheel off and siliconed around the cable input for the speed sensor. The back of the sensor was pretty well sealed up.
Took the dash out and found a tide mark inside the housing. There had been a reasonable amount of...
So another 700 miles further on and no more rain. Dash diplay fails randomly still. Mainly just a couple of hundred yards after start up.
Definitely not happy under 3000. Sometimes it feels like it is going to die when you give it throttle. But that's not every time.

So 4 weeks ago we bought a 2008 Stelvio with 50000 miles on it. Thought as a try out I would take it on a 10 day 2000 mile ride to Scotland. First day and a half i rode about 400 dry miles with a wee bit of heavy rain for 30 or so but everything was great. Hit some big rain later on 2nd day up...
