All told, I’ll stick with Guzzi, but I think my next ride will be
1) nekkid, and
2) cheaper.
Economy being what it is, I could pull overtime until I drop and still be unable to afford a bike…unless I sell my car… 🧐
Shot them a RFQ, so we’ll see. Maybe they can give me a quick hack to get everything to work while the dash would be out by throwing varying resistors into the pins, and I can keep legal speed via GPS.
Thank you, Scott! I was seriously considering the eBay route!
I’m looking up Carmo BV soon…maybe I can call in a favor with a former employer where I did vehicle electronics!
...for a bit, but now the gauge cluster is almost constantly showing LD 02.
I can’t afford a used gauge cluster for this bike (on eBay, they’re *starting* at around 350 USD)— does anyone know whether (less expensive) gauges from a different bike using the same 40 pin connector would work, or...
My understanding is that the harness from battery POS to the starter solenoid is a separate harness from the main harness. This is an OEM harness. I should be able to get the PN as soon as I take delivery.
Charging system was checked, and showed no issues. Looking at the underside of the...
Scott, I’m not sure I could get more specific than the several posts I’ve already made on the subject, but I’ll try.
Starting around 18 months ago, the bike started throwing the LD02 code, which prompted me to start looking online for answers, because I’m not exactly rich. You and I actually...
Found out the problem!
The harness between the battery and the starter solenoid was heat & moisture damaged!
I’ve spent literally hundreds of American dollhairs buying batteries, all because of a USD 60 wiring harness!
It’s finally had enough of my shenanigans, and is deader than disco. Talking it to the stealership tomorrow. May have to sign the title and steal the tool kit if I can’t afford the repairs.
Still throwing that error. I’m completely stumped. New LiFePO battery last fall, it’s been on the brand new battery tender all winter, and the only thing left at this point, in my mind, is to take it in to the local stealership.
Someone once asked why I refer to it as the Cobra Chicken.
It’s a play on the “Goose” moniker. And if you live anywhere near where Canada geese nest, poop, et endless cetera, you may have heard them referred to as cobra chickens.
(My last bike was a 1984 Honda Nighthawk S, lovingly called the...
Amazing how one can get two faulty batteries in a row, isn’t it?
For the record, avoid anything from Motobatt — their US office is no longer in business, so there’s no support. Everything being sold from that brand is old stock.
UPDATE: thank you so much for the reassurance that it was the battery (again)! I picked up a LiFePO equivalent, installed it, and my Cobra Chicken started right up like nothing was ever a problem!
That’s what I’m thinking, too, so fingers are crossed that there isn’t an underlying problem. It’s not going to hurt to go through the connections with some cleaner!
Mine just started having that problem — I have another new battery ready to be ordered, but after charging the battery, I do have power going to the ECU and dash, until I stab the starter button, then I hear a relay, but nothing else, and everything blacks out and runs through the light show...
After a couple of weeks of riding with a Forbidden Hot Sauce bottle under my seat, I decided to reroute the breather back to the airbox. There was a LOT of pressure pulsing through the hose into that bottle! So, I replaced the original breather hose off the back of the airbox and into the same...
