Time for me to move on from the forum, at least for some time. I've had a good time here and really appreciate the civility that marks this forum a cut above most others. Well done, Todd and Falcor and the moderators.
Got nothing against Guzzi but I've fallen out of love with bikes in...
All right then
It's the N5 on the outskirts of Morez in France. It's the spectacles capital of the world hence 'spectacular' road. We were heading from Briançon to Besançon.
Cheerio, it's been fun
May be a touch obtuse but this place is the world centre for products that connect the nose to the ears. It's not too far from the previous destination and we were heading north from Annecy to Besançon. The floral tribute should be a clue...
This 'spectacular' road
is close to this, which should give you a clue
Second part of the question; what's this place famous for?
This will likely be my last post, I've just sold the LM1 and may be giving bikes away for good. Thanks for being such a good, well mannered (for the most part)...
It's a good way of Polaris giving themselves development options. They have to have a V twin for the cruiser market but that limits development of the Victory ( I reckon they'll go multi a la Triumph Rocket 3). Indian 'has' to have a V twin (just like Guzzi and HD) and the name has excellent...
Last frame number for the CI is 16994 so yours fits in that sequence for the last LMV as one of the last LM frames. That and the plaque is very good corroboration that you have an Ultima, which should be red with red wheels or black with black wheels. The Ultima was released in 1992 at the...
I think you'll find the E means extended reach, so the electrode protrudes further.
I suspect piston clearance, could be from different pistons or the barrels could have been machined. Stick what works for the bike. BTW I think 7 might be a little cool for a Tonti, I seem to recall using 6 in...
Ditto John's advice on seals. Could you try contacting Enduralast directly? They may already have the wiring solution, or may be able to work one out for you
No, you'd have been fitting the seals with the cavities up. They could easily have burped out fluid if there was an airlock (hence bubbles). Clean it up and use it for a few miles, if it keeps leaking then there's a problem. The ATF is only to lube between the tubes and sliders so it won't...
Yes, recommended. I got a stainless set for my LM3. Also get matching pads from them as for best performance stainless need a different compound to iron. Tell them how you use the bike and what characteristic you want from the pad (e.g. good bite from cold) and they'll send the best pad for...
You can't wind it back. Maybe borrow another speedo, or claim it's the second time around for yours? I wouldn't tamper with yours if the mileage is original. But, like John I didn't know they had them in '73.
Just as in new cars, new bikes don't need heads retorquing. On any engine rebuild however, car or bike, heads need retorquing after one heat cycle (some liquid cooled engines have special gaskets that claim not to require it, not available for Guzzi though). In the case of an alloy engine it...
A little engine oil on the threads will help reduce the stiction that can lead to under torquing. Avoid anti seize or moly as it can lead to over torquing.
