I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

Paultergeist - thank you for the compliment... Todd - are you sure those rear hubs are powder coated? When I wiped it with carb cleaner, it turned really gummy and wiped right off. In my experience powder coat doesn’t normally do that.

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

Aside from the seat and bags, I didn’t swap anything else over. The exhaust is different for the V7III. But I was able to use my ECU flash tool from GuzziTech on the new bike which was very helpful. Todd - I really like those pipes a lot. Wish I had known!

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

So true. The bike you’re asking about was my last V7 which I traded for this one. On the old V7, I mounted the mirror to the headlight bracket. I loved the way it looked, but I wouldn’t recommend it functionality wise - had to always contort my legs to see what was behind me. Here’s a...

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

I’m going to resurrect this OCD infested post with an update for those who may still care. I spent the winter trying NOT to look at the marks in the new rear hub, but recently decided I was going to address the issue head on. To my surprise, when trying to remove the touch up paint, I...

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

Left side... funny! I'll give it a try. Scott - got the 22mm hole punch, spent an hour making the perfect cut pattern piece out of 3M film. put it on, and I could still see the dimple through the film. Pulled it off, and now I'm just going to forget about it. If it's still bothering me by...

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

Scott - funny you should say that. Perhaps we’re both sick? I already ordered a 22 mm hole punch so I can cut the half circle for my 3m vinyl wrap to go around that drain plug base. I tried using a satin clear film, but the chips are so deep they still show up. I went through about 30 sheets...

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

HA! If only you knew the level of OCD I've been running at... I'd need the help from a fleet of doctors to get me to that point (actually getting the bike dirty). I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm in the process of pricing out the dismantle of the rear hub so I can re-powdercoat the case.

I never knew Loctite eats powder coat...

I’m nearing the completion of my modifications to my new V7III (250 miles so far). I just happened to see some Loctite spilled on the rear hub from when I was installing new rear signals from a couple days ago. When I wiped it off, It took the powdercoat with it. It was eaten away right to...

V7 Registry & Picture thread -- ADD YOUR BIKE

The plate mount was from a company called MOSKIS - but it's designed for EU plates, so I had to modify it. Plus it's discontinued for the V7's. (I got it a while back.) Although I love the look, there is a little bit of vibration so if Todd can make something similar that would be your best...

V7 Registry & Picture thread -- ADD YOUR BIKE

Just traded in my 2016 V7II for this 2019. Using this “lock down” as an excuse to do all the mods now, so my time will be occupied since it’s too cold to ride here in CentraL NY. Dealer in Goshen, NY delivered it (3 hours away) and picked up my old bike. So far it’s only got 7 miles on...

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Thank you everybody! I appreciate that. Of course I’ll send pics of the mods as I’m doing them. Todd, I’m checking now with the dealer to make sure they’re ok with with me putting the original map back on the back. I can’t image they’d have a problem with that. Once I do that, I’ll send...

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Well, he met me half way and we made a deal! So I’ll be getting the V7III after all. Ordering a set of Heidenau K60’s and having them shipped to the dealer so they can mount them before delivery. The rest I can do on my own. Looks like I wont have to worry about that missing thrust bearing...

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Since I don’t have much else to do during this pandemic lock down, I might as well give myself a hobby. I had so much fun modding my V7II, this time will be even better.

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Oh god... this certainly doesn’t help. I guess the truth hurts. Offered the dealer 4500, so let’s see where this goes. If we make a deal, then I’ll tally the rest up. This way I can’t back out. I know myself too well. :)

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Just an update - I cancelled the order for my crank check tool - I made another counter offer on that V7III. Maybe, just maybe I'll be making the upgrade, then will come all the new parts to be ordered - let's get this economy pumping! (that's my new justification).

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Good advice - I just ordered that crank check tool from AF1 racing for 110 bucks. I’ll bring the bike to my local trusted shop and have him check the clearance for piece of mind. So I guess it looks like I’ll be keeping the V7II for now.

Sib - you sound like my girlfriend. Sad part is, you’re both right. It’s all because of the corona virus! I’m going crazy inside all day.

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Yeah... sounds like a lot, right? The out the door price for a 2019 Stone w/night pack is around $10k. So $5500 and my bike Includes delivery, and they would pick up my old bike. Otherwise, to get my V7 serviced, I would have to pay around $750 for shipping there and back, plus the service...

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Probably the smartest thing to do. I was just quoted $5500 out the door for a 2019 Stone with Night Pack - they would drop off the new bike in my garage, and take the old one back.

Upgrade my modded V7II to a new V7III?

Back in winter of 2017 I bought a new ‘16 V7II stone, and spent the entire winter making all the changes I wanted, and have been pretty happy with the results. Lights, shocks, tires, seat, exhaust, Todd’s wonderful flash tool... the list goes on and on. Thousands of dollars later, I finally...
