I am not a modern bike technician. I do all services on my stuff ( even tire replacement) as I don't trust my life to someone I am not watching work. This brake bleeding subject IS something I have had a lot of experience with. The technique I have used for many decades is similar but with a...
I recently had to put ANOTHER (4000mi) rear tire on my Cali touring. After seeing that some 1400's use a 180 instead of the 200 I went that route with commander 3's. Not being a radial I was a little concerned. Turns out that I feel it was the correct way to go. The bias ply has a much more...
Just opened forum to see if there was anything on front brake problems. My 2014 has had this happen twice now. Both times were 1/2 mile from home. After fiddling with the brake lever it freed up and proceeded to work normally. I was nervous and used mostly back brake till I returned home. I...
Got rear ended last night at a red light. I used to be able to find fenders bags etc online. Seems that these parts or my ability to find them have disappeared. 1400 Cali touring need rear fender, fender sub frame, hard bags and license plate mount. Anybody know an online source of new parts or...
Having had to deal with some sporadic electrical issues lately. Usually after hitting a pothole.
1..service light / low voltage
2..service light/ no head lights or taillights
3..fail to start/ battery seems dead
4.. cruise not working
Figured out fuse box fuse contacts were anodized from poor...
I have a kureg mini coffee maker that apparently is related to the Guzzi. At least it speaks the same language. Makes the exact same moaning sound as my Cali albeit at a lower volume.
Just find that funny. It goes on and on at about the same intervals and duration.
Amazing, washing the bike and noticed one lower fork shroud was loose. Looked here for possible info on its mounting design and boom there it is before I even tried a search. Unfortunately my lift is tied up under another bike. Oh well at least I know where to look.
The fairing on the 1400 is a "Wedge Fairing " from a company in Minn. It was a bear making the mounts for it as he had never designed for the Guzzi. It is pretty sweet actually. Run around $1500 U.S. I will take some pics and post. It's frame mounted and accepts 6.5" speakers. Much more stable...
If I ordered shocks that do not have a remote reservoir for a custom instead of the touring then I will gain some clearance? I no longer have the income of my youth therefore this is a bigger decision than it would have been in the past. Wife wonders why I need 3 bikes.
What kind of result...
I have not been able to find the specs on the rear shocks. Probably just looking in the wrong places. Does anybody know the stated length and eyelet size? I need another 3/4-1" of rear shock height. I have removed the nubs and plastic sliders but still grind the floor boards awful hard.
I cleaned my filter the other day while attaching wires for my stereo amp (in the top box) and with the battery out the air box is easy to get to. I use my cheapo (harbor freight $3) xtra long needle nose pliers on the side clips. Removing the battery is pretty easy and makes the air box easy...
I don't know of any way to read error codes without going to a dealer. All I do know is that I got the service / steady red triangle once when it was about a quart low. I added a quart and road it 2500 miles over a weekend without incident. Next time light came on I snugged the connection on the...
Under the right conditions (pushing the limits) it can get a little unstable. I have a curve near my home that at 90+ mph gets a little hairy. Front end wants to waller around. Interstates no problems at 100+ Suspension could use some upgrading. I keep the rear preloaded all the way and it...
Didler you're Harley bashing. My Harleys use 4 quarts of oil every 5000 miles --when I change it. I ride with hundreds of people with Harley's the only ones that leak, leak because of the owner not the bike. I have the only Guzzi in a sea of Harleys and no one puts it down. Of course they can't...
Found my red triangle and "service " instigator. Apparently this sensor has a intermittent contact failure prevalent enough that there is a kit available to remedy it. Connection gets loose and tells the ECU either your oil pressure is low or unmonitored and limphome mode is initiated. The thing...
You're right Dave, the plastic 'sliders' and the 'OH S#iT' nubs went in the deleted stock parts tote within a couple weeks of purchase (along with most of the tag bracket). Every once in a while I forget and start flicking it into hard curves and grind some floorboard. My Cali 2 is the only...
