    V7 III Suspension Thread

Best avoid the Givi Rack as it has to pass behind the shock to mount on the rear footrests. The OE shock is tapered at the top so if the new shock has a much wider diameter it will foul on the Givi rack. Those racks that use the top eye on the shock should be OK. The OE and H&B racks (and...

V7 III seat release cable rubbing on tyre

Although this problem was fixed by my earlier mod, I had occasion to remove the mudguard inner recently and this enabled me to have a good look and found the hole where the original clip should be positioned. (Thanks for the heads up, V7 Dreaming) So I just passed a cable tie through the hole...

V7 III seat release cable rubbing on tyre

The only screw under my fender is on the opposite side right at the top and nowhere near this cable, and it secures a wiring loom. No sign of anything missing. My bike is a Stone LED which has a plastic fender, perhaps other models which have different fenders utilise better fixing for the cable.

V7 III seat release cable rubbing on tyre

Here's what I did to solve the problem. I drilled a 10mm hole about 25mm below the square aperture through which the cable originally came through and re-routed it through there to effectively take out some slack without making a tortuous route which may have caused the inner to bind and become...

No, it's mine from new Feb 2020, so as it came from the dealer.

    How to Adjust Side-stand Lever

You could use one (or two) small u-bolts and attach a suitably sized/shaped plate.

V7 III seat release cable rubbing on tyre

Just back from a ride and chanced to look under the rear mudguard and spotted the seat release cable had been touching the rear tyre whenever the suspension compressed. Checked under the seat thinking I might be able to pull the extra slack up under the seat but to do so would make the route...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

This is the age old problem of what seems reasonable to the owner. The V7 is, after all, an inexpensive bike and many of us will spend a significant sum to tailor it to our needs. The tourer will need screen, racks, luggage, sat nav etc while the racer will strip it to bare essentials to lose...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

A further update on the issue of the Maxton T260C shock possibly fouling the rear rack. Having done a bit more research it appears that only the Givi SR8201 and Kappa KR8201 (identical) use the rear footpeg mount and so have a tube that passes behind the shock just below the top eye. Other...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

Here's an update on the Maxton T260C twin shocks for the V7 III. These are made to rider weight and use linear (not progressive) springs. The spring is mounted towards the upper part of the unit so they cannot be used if a rear rack is fitted as the spring would hit the rack frame (true for a...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

For anyone UK based I have found that Maxton (founded by Ron Williams) make their T260 and WR26 (with comp) twinshocks to rider spec and can be specified with a longer top eye to lengthen them. They also do replacement fork cartridges (SD20) with comp adj in one leg and rebound in the other)...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

Thanks for comments/replies re longer shocks, much appreciated. One big problem for me is that being UK based there are fairly punitive charges when buying outside the EU; we have to pay duty (on both the item and postage), along with other fees and admin charges which, while understandable...

    V7 III Suspension Thread

Just tried to order the G0029WME52V2 but told it has been discontinued. Does anyone know of any other suitable longer shock, ie greater than 350mm but not longer than 370mm, for the V7 III to raise seat height? I know about the K-Tech Razor & Razor Lite shocks which have about 5mm length...
