    You haven't changed the fuel filter. The petcock also has a filter and mine was quite gunked up when I extracted it.

    It's disgraceful that something so incorrect was allowed out of the factory. Mine guesstimates 3L/100km and my mental maths at the bowser calculates 5L/100km.

    I had similar with my Breva once. I removed the battery leads and polished them and the terminals, pulled the earth on the engine block near the starter and cleaned that, also found the the lead to the starter solenoid was a poor fit, snipped it off and attached a new one. Problem fixed...

    I had some weird rev issues with my Breva 1100 once. It turned out to be the 30amp fuses. You could try replacing them and cleaning the holders.

    I have an '07 Breva. I would ensure that he has two keys for the bike and check that he knows/has set a security code. Based on the age of the bike, has the alternator belt been changed and have the inner plugs been changed?

    Is the charging system working? Replace the 30amp fuses, they're pretty old now and have been known to cause strange symptoms.

    My bike shop put me onto the IK FOAM PRO 2 SPRAYER. Foam up the wheel rims on my EV and the Chief's GT1000, wait 20 minutes and hose off. Come up beautifully!

    Try disconnecting the battery overnight and leaving the key "ON". It may have cleared when you reconnect. Works for Guzzis...and Fords!
