177 miles is exactly how far I got before running out of petrol 🤪 on Monday. 39 of those miles were on reserve...

So, stuck on a very busy but traffic-bound 3-lane stretch of road in Oxford, in the dark, at rush hour. Was waving the queuing traffic past me, wondering how long it would take me to push the bike the next mile to the petrol station (I'd had a plan to fill up, really!), or whether I could talk someone into helping me push the bike up onto the pavement (kerb was too high for me to do on my own).

Then, coming up behind me, what did I see but the brightly-lit recovery truck I'd passed 2 miles back. Waved him to wind his window down as he drew level and shouted 'got any petrol!!'. He did 🥳

He stuck about 5 litres in which was more than enough to get me to a proper fuel stop and fill up and finish the last 40 miles of my commute. He wasn't going to charge me for doing this but I dropped him a score just for being a life-saver 😇

Total time from breakdown to on my way, just over 10 minutes!!

Lesson learnt? When the reserve light will come on is highly variable, anywhere between 130 -170 miles so far, but I reckon the reserve will always be good up to 30 miles - anything after that you're taking a chance
