The Moto Guzzi team lead 4 laps of the 1948 race and 6 of the 1949 event !
The 1950 winner averaged just over 92mph for the 7 laps !
The current average is just over 135mph 😯

There is a reason why the IoM TT is the ultimate test of man and motorcycle...

135+ mph AVERAGE SPEED really means significantly higher speeds during much of the race, on Isle roads. Not a racetrack at all!

That's mind boggling.

 
I've been to the IOM races twice.

The first time, it changed my perspective completely on what human beings were capable of doing.

The second time, I went with my rider son so he could have HIS perspective adjusted.

A life-altering experience for me. I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it. Both times I was on a motorcycle, so I could ride the course at 30% of the speed of the racers and get a feel for what they are doing.
