Hey guys,

I have a 2011 V7 Classic with roughly 5400kms on it. The bike has had all of it's regular maintenance completed, but I'm having some ongoing, frustrating issues:

  1. When starting the bike when cold, or when it has sat even for a bit it will be hard to start. The idle will be rough, and it will stall out. If I hold the throttle with the revs slightly higher for a couple of minutes it will help. What should I be looking at to fix this? It's very frustrating. My g/f can just jump on her Suzuki and ride away, but we always have to wait a few minutes for mine.
  2. When riding it is decent, but idling at lights it is not super smooth and occasionally it feels like it wants to stall?
Any help on these issues would be appreciated. Does it need a TB sync or TPS adjusted?

I love the bike, but want to get these issues sorted

I too have this issue, although I'm experiencing this issue for the first time after I've obtained my bike from it's first service. Any ideas what causes this?

The 2011 would definitely be in need of both a TPS reset and TB sync, and additionally be sure the valve lash is set to Euro spec. All of those are paramount to good running. Additionally the throttle bodies must be cleaned occasionally, even with low miles. Running issues are a different matter as the lean emission requirements won't allow decent running. I can be of help with that, contact me direct email; Todd at GuzziTech.com
trialsn, the bike should never be worse post service. Take it back... But if you want it to fuel correctly, I have the solution. ;)

I've called my shop and they recommended to bring it back in. Not particularly pleased since I have to take time out of my day and go up in cold weather, but that's the name of the game I guess! Right now I'm just doing some homework so I can sound relatively intelligent when "spit balling" some ideas haha.

As for the ECU mapping, I've toyed with the thought, but I'm not sure if taking the ECU or removing the throttle body is within my skillset at this point haha.

Mine did this after an extended sit (2-3 weeks). Turned out the battery was low. Put it on the tender - started and idled fine afterwards.
