Has anyone checked the alternator belt tension on their B11
what does the job involve, and is there anything to watch out for when doing it.

The adjustment procedure in the pdf is very typical of guzzi, and vague in the extreme, with everything all cleared away and the cover already removed.
Guess ill just have to go for it and work it out myself..........unless anyone knows better???/ :S

Multi-V belts like this are really common in the car world. In my experience they don't seem to *stretch*, (Although that is merely a factor of the 'V's wearing so the belt drops lower in the grooves so effectively it seems like its stretching.) they end to work just fine unmolessted until the screech, then they break.

With my 1100 Griso I checked the belt at 35,000Kms and it was still as tight as a bear's chuff and had none of the tell-tale cracking that predicts imminent failure so I left the bugger alone. I intend to do EXACTLY the same with my 1200!

Pete

Thats just what i thought pete, but i'm getting a squeak as the revs rise which sounds just like a belt slipping.
It shouldn't be slack after 13k miles but i just wanted to check it.
Id rather do it ok at home in the daylight than in the middle of nowhere in the dark
