Hi, I'm new to the forum. From Canada. Hoping to purchase a new exhaust for my Anniversario soon! I like the GT-Rx SS V7III - GP Megs, shorter version. From reading the posts it seems almost mandatory to also purchase the $500/$650 (CAD) ECU Flash along with the exhaust. So I would be looking at $850/$1100 (CAD) for the exhaust. For a total of $1750 CAD.

Is the flash mandatory for the new exhaust to perform properly?IMG_5903.webp

It's worth it to get the ECU flash even if you don't switch the exhaust.
The GT-Rx GP Megs are really nice pipes - really nice - but get the ECU flash. You'll have no regrets about that whether or not you end up doing the exhaust.

You should be able to get the exhaust and not the ECU flash. The system will self adjust to an extent, so the fueling should not be much worse than it already is.
While I do not agree with the standard "they run lean from the factory" line, I do think that they can run much better than they do stock and Todd seems pretty good at getting them to run better than stock. I have some of Todds tuning on my Griso and I was very happy with what he did to it.
There are cheaper ways to "adjust" the fueling, but I don't care for them as they tend to be like using a sledge hammer to pound nails. They are the wrong tool for the job.
If it was me, I would rather have the ECU flash than the exhaust if I could only afford one or the other.

Thanks guys.

Appreciate your input Mike... but the system can barely/crudely adjust at low speed throttle only... To strict Euro emissions at best.

Not to Mike, but statement of fact:
A stock bike can run 100% better with corrected fueling, and much cooler as well.
If you mod the bike at all, the need grows exponentially.

All said, people stick their heads in the sand in ignorance all of the time when it comes to mods and the misconceptions of partial closed-loop fueling. ;)

You need the Flash Tool just for the stock bike. Doubly so for ANY aftermarket exhaust system. The FI system on these things is little (if any) more than an electric carby. :(

You won't be sorry if you buy the FT.

I purchased the GT-Rx V7III GP Megs (polished) for my Anniversario. Also purchased the ECU Flash. Changing out the stock bars with Speed bars. Also changing out signals with Rizoma's and the tail tidy kit. Thanks for the above comments and advice.
