Anyone have a 'how-to' on removing the Mandello S fairings/bodywork?

Plan some mods and will do my own maintenance.
Find the service manual confusing/hard to interpret, for instance removing the Top Fairing is cited several times, but how to remove it is not explained, unless it is also known as Front Upper Fairing?
Hoping someone has a step-by-step.
Thanks in advance!

Likely not, so if you pull it, take plenty of photos and I can help you arrange them here... unless someone else already has(?). Often on the older models, it can be pulled as a complete assy. I'll be watching.

I did some work with some of the panels so I could get to the windshield mechanism. I couldn't find anything in the service manual on how to do it. By looking at the diagrams in the front of the service manual I was able to do what I needed to do. The printed manual is basically worthless. If I had anything to say at MG I would eliminate the printed version. Anyway I wanted to do this a couple of weeks ago and couldn't figure out how to do it but after looking at the diagram it was quite straight forward. I doubt that it will be too complicated as these bikes are hand built by regular guys and gals. I did find a screw that was missing though, the hole not the screw.
kk.

Been studying the diagrams and think I have it figured out. I usually take a load of pics, and then make myself a 'cheat sheet' to reference later. I'll put it up here when I get it completed if allowed.

Please do post your "cheat sheet". I would recommend making it a new topic and I'll make it a "Sticky".

Yes, provided you simply post the pics and words here as a thread. Links to your personal page/server is futile. Hosting/documenting this type of info is the very basis of this website since 2001.

I swapped out my Mandello's turn signals earlier this year. The rear signals were, of course, easy peasy. The front signals required almost ALL of the body panels and fairings to be removed.

The service manual is indeed hard to follow, and the pictures are sometimes difficult to parse out. What is it with the Italian manuals? Maybe the more experienced techs on here are used to how obtuse they can be. ;)

I printed out all the relevant sections of the service manual (thanks Todd for hosting those) as large as I could and then studied (interpreted) them diligently until I <mostly> understood them. Then I slowly and deliberately started removing fairing sections, hand writing notes, etc. I organized all the bolts/clamps in separate shop bowls by body section. I unfortunately didn't document the process very well (I can barely read my own chicken scratch) so don't have much to share about Mandello Disassembly Wisdom. But it is do-able! My only recommendation is, take your time, note how everything goes together and organize/label those bolts!

Nut
Thanks,
I did do it, and took lots of notes, same as you, I printed out the appropriate manual pages. My notes are mind-joggers that point out what bits have 'hooks', etc, whose orientation are best known before you start pulling on expensive plastic. the manual is a bit vague as you know. I just finished this process, and plan on making up a .doc on it. I'll put it up here as soon as I finish it. Not bad at all, really, at least most of the bolts are the same.. the only real trouble I had was 1) my clumsy old fingers dropped a filter cover bolt, where it wound up I have no clue, had one of the push in nut thingies disappear too, I hate those things, but was able to get a 'close enough' replacement at an auto parts store, and had a devil of a time getting the front upper hook on the side fairing to re-engage.
Nuts that one should have to pull all that plastic off because MG had to put a loose nut on the back of that turn signal instead of a captive one. Ah, well.... I also get a kick out of the Italian-to-English not-quite-correct translations...

Hi Guys!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
I’m about to start the same dismantling exercise. Appreciate any documentation, pictures or else to guide the process.
Thanks,
Glenn.

Hi Ziggy. I’m about to start the same dismantling exercise Gr8 if you have any pictures, descriptions or else to share:)

I swapped my indicator the same as Majaneka, raise the screen and remove it plus the plastic cover as there are a couple of screws behind the dash, careful not to drop the screw inside, also 2 plastic clips on the inside adjacent to the top of the radiator. When all screws/clips are removed gently pull the fairing back 20mm to the rear of the bike as there are a couple of "hooks"to disengage. It will then pull out from a rubber mounting by the indicator. On assembly just make sure you engage the"hooks" in their appropriate slot. Once you've mastered it its only a 15 min job per side.
