G'day Everyone,

I am new to this sight, I have recently purchased a 1200 Sport after over twenty five years riding BMW's , Been riding all up for 34 years and still loving it. Always had a passion for the Guzzi but also loved my BMW's. I traded my K1200LT for the Sport and now I am having the time of my lfe. Although I am learning the characteristics of the bike and getting to learn a new riding style, after coming from a bike that handled extremely welll but weighed 400kg. It's nice to go to a bike that is part of what motorcyclling is all about. I will have a fairly long learning curve.
I am looking forward to also eventually doing my own servicing but may being asking some questions in the future, especially doing tappets etc. If anyone has some hints and advice then I am certainly listening.

It's great to read about the passion which is not disimilar to my BM's My bike is back to basics in a sense, no full fairing and such a brilliant sound. I think my mid life crisis is going very well.

Welcome to the gaggle of geese. There are plenty here to lend advice. Also if you search the postings you should find tune up procedures. Also there are many fine technical people in OZ who are also on the forum should you need assistance.

Not that I have ridden BM's like you have, but now having been through their dealer mill in our quest for an F800 I can see that there is a world of difference between the two, as you say Guzzi's are a "rider's" bike and more pure as a two wheeled machine, BM's on the other hand seem to be an "owner's" bike, with all that that entails. Certainly you might find the dealer network, a little frustraing at times, but again that's the difference... No big flashy showrooms, just bikes that go.

As John said there are plenty of tech heads listening here, and most questions have easy answers, all you have to do is ask.

Post up some pics - I'd love to see some of the sport in the Vic Alps.

If you are in Bungendore near Canberra, I would call in to Pete Ropers' saubrious establishment and get him to give your Sport a once over.
