My side stand just decided to start dropping anytime. The issue is not only is it dangerous but the motor cuts out due to the safety switch. I've had the bike for 5 years and never had the problem but two weeks ago I was out on the country roads when I came back into town the motor just quit. As I pulled over to the side of the road I noticed I was dragging something. I looked down and the side stand was down. I kicked it back up with my boot and and the motor kicked in again. Thinking it was a one off I headed for home when it did it again and again. So I held the stand up with my foot to get home. Not good.

I took a look at it in the garage and everything seemed to be normal. The springs were attached and they seemed to hold the stand in the up position fine. Why there are two springs is beyond me, maybe and after thought for a poor design? I cleaned everything and it seemed OK. Then yesterday, Monday went for a nice long ride and when i got back to town it was doing it again. I noticed it was usually when I down shift or decelerate. Any other time it stays in place.

Has anyone else experienced this? Do the springs wear out that bad? I ordered two new ones from Harper's but that was two months ago and they haven't sent them. Anyway, frustrated! This is kind of a dangerous situation to ride like this. Any help is appreciated.
