Just got it firing!
I'm having a hard time troubleshooting an issue that happened to the Centauro kept in my garage - a while back I went to exercise it (bi-weekly ride to keep fluids happy) and while it turned the motor over, it didn't have any signs of firing. I turned the ignition off, back on again and it started up. So I took it for a ride to a local bikes & breakfast, not thinking of a potential problem looming...When I tried to return home, it wouldn't start, leaving me with an Uber ride home to get my trailer. The ignition is working as there is spark on the plugs, so onto other things. No blown fuses and then I noticed the fuel pump wasn't initializing when the ignition was turned on. After a little more troubleshooting (I removed the fuel pump and hooked it up to a 12v DC bench power source) it showed signs of a bad spot on the motor, so I ordered a new one. I installed the new one, and same issue- not initializing so I'm thinking something in the fuel system, I don't think the injectors are working either because as I crank it, there's no smell of fuel out of the exhaust, but that could be from the fuel pump not running.
Any suggestions on where to look next? I looked at the schematic in the owners manual and it's not very detailed, especially if there are any sensors to check. It looks like one output form the ECU initializes the fuel side (fuel pump, injectors, electric petcock, etc) and the ignition so I'm assuming that is working since it has spark. I'm hoping maybe the hall effect sensor, but then the ignition seems to be working...So, any suggestions on where to check?
