As i am a sucker for a good center stand, my next plan is to install the oem one on my '22 V7 Special.

However, since i’m already scraping hard parts on the right, i am a little bit concerned, that the center stand will touch the ground during leaning and pivot the bike.

Will the exhaust shield scrape first, like on the right side? Or will the lever arm touch the ground first?

If the feeler on the foot peg and the exhaust shield scrape first, that would give me enough warning that i would t lean further.

Second: I’ve read that the stand is installed too much towards the rear, making the bike not really stable when used. Is this right or simply a myth? I plan to use the stand for maintenance, cleaning, valve adjustments etc.

I prefer to know about this, before i order it instead of a paddock stand. :D
I mounted the OEM centerstand on my 2023 V7, no problems with stability. Furthermore, there seems to be no flexibility with the mounting position because of the fixed frame drillings for the mounting bolts. Viel Spass beim Schrauben.

Thanks, i saw the mounting holes beneath and thought about that.

Danke dir, ich gebe mein Bestes!

My one and only offering here... Compressed suspension in cornering with you aboard is where it matters. It will be very different from leaning the bike over unladen. The peg touches first, followed by the muffler shield, then the header shields. I've not ran a center-stand, but in my personal experience, I don't run them. A paddock stand might be best for you if you are concerned about touch downs.

Maybe i should adjust the preload, my exhaust was scraping not to late after the peg feeler.
It is like you said, the muffler shield is scraped more than the header one. The feeler on the right is only a third of its original size after some hard riding.
