clutch rattle on a 2003 Californian EV1100

Hi Folks
I have a 2003 CalifornianEV1100
I just acquired it without test riding it
When I got it home and fired it up and pulled in the clutch lever there was a pretty loud rattle that went away when the lever was released
the clutch seems to be fine..not surfe if that is normal...sure doesnt sound good
It has a dual plate clutch...19K miles
any feed back that might help
