Last week, I decided to take on a DIY project and installed the OEM engine guards on my V100 Stelvio. It was very easy DIY.

Here's a picture of the finished look:

I must say, it not only adds a rugged look to the bike but also gives me peace of mind knowing the engine has that extra layer of protection. Installing them felt like a rite of passage for any motorcyclist, blending functionality with a bit of personalization.
 
If you choose to add some fog lights, a money saving hack is to use the OEM wiring harness combined with some Amazon or Ebay LED's and universal fog light wiring connectors. I spliced the universal wiring connectors on to the stock harness and ran the bare wires from the lights through the crash bars and then spliced the wiring connectors. I can disconnect the lights from the harness and remove the bars but cannot remove the lights from the bars with cutting the connectors. Small inconvenience but saved me about $400. Using the factory harness ties it in with the dash icon and switch.

Mostly I go on factory harness route
