Frostbitten
Just got it firing!
Leaking at the base of the fuel pump port where it turns vertical and starts the treads. I think it's leaked since new or nearly new, cause I always smell fuel. I always figured it the was the tip valve issue. Not so, did the tip valve and on closer inspection with the shrouds off the tank I see fuel seeping out at the very edge of where the port attaches to the tank. The dealer I bought the bike from is 950 miles away and williing to try a mercy case with Piaggio but not gauranteeing anything. New tank without anything on it is $1200. Local dealer is also willing to try a goodwill with Piaggio but not hopeful. There is no possible way it is an owner error issue. this is a defective tank. I believe it is a HDPE plastic and if I had a fairly assured sealing method, I would forgo dealing with the dealers and Piaggio and patch it. It's seems to be a small area. I have read much on plastic welds, epoxy and other compounds and not sure I have a good feeling about how to repair it. Really hoping someone has some good ideas.
