Hello gentlemen,

I'm in the process of piecing my 2009 Norge back together after an accident in July of 2016. The motorcycle laid fairing-less on its side in the rain for about two weeks. When I reconnected the old damaged dash to the harness it showed the ECU disconnect sign. Since the old instrument cluster was damaged I order a good used unit from Germany and connected it. At first it seemed promising. The dash showed correct mileage and recognized a few errors such as the fuel tank not being connected. When I tried to reset the key the dash or ecu got stuck. I reset the Battery power and tried again. Same result. I tried to reset the service symbol and it also got stuck. Now the new dash shows 335000 miles and the ECU disconnect sign again. I'm thinking the ECU may have shorted from the rain. The ground measures fine from ecu bolt to negative on battery. What do you think?

Two issues, either the plug connectors to the dash and/or grounds are contaminated, and/or the same on the ECU. I would try to get the original dash working... As the keys have a RFID chip that reports to the dash, so unless you got the keys with the new dash, it was a waste unless you have it reset by Carmo ($$$). I just had this done for a customer. They will give you two new key blanks that will need to be cut. I can be of help with it if you need direct email; Todd at GuzziTech.com

Thanks for responding. I'm confused. I thought the dash allowed for reprogramming of a new key. I also reset both codes to all zeros.

It does, but you need to have one working/paired key to start the process via the dash. So you would need the key mated to the replacement dash if that is what you are using. If that doesn't work, you need to have the dash reset and mated to a new set of keys... or at least this is how it was just done for me.

I was successful in entering the key and resetting the code. The original dash and replacement dash were both 00000. Since the engine wouldn't start I tried to reprogram the keys and the dash got stuck. The mileage increased from 9000 to 355000 and now show ecu disconected.

I can't be of much help with that issue, sorry. Call Carmo USA, and they'll likely tell you to send it in.

I had a similar issue with a Breva 1100, where the odometer jumped up to 335,544 Km and froze (from around 40,000). I had left the bike without a battery for around six months, and this occurred when I reconnected a new one. All other functions, including trip meters, work fine.

I would be interested in your outcome. Please post the results.

So you're still showing 335000 kilometers? I Might just get a bunch of destination stickers and pretend that it is true;)
