Should those be periodically removed and cleaned? I ask this because I read someplace that they can plug up with carbon and then cause the bike to run rich at lower RPM's fouling plugs?

I don't know much about those sensors and wonder if they can cause issues like that or not?

I've notice they screw out easily enough.

The "exhaust sensors" are the O2 sensors that feed data to the ECU. You should never have to perform any maintenance on them unless you do something silly like install a FatDuc or a Booster Plug or something. If you attempt to fool the ECU to get a richer mixture, you may foul the O2 sensors (and perhaps damage the engine).

With two of those things in a on throttle body system is looks as if you have at least two chances at getting the right information to the ECU.

I've heard about this engine damage theory before. How rich can it get then? You would think the ECU can only richen things up to a certain point and then that would be about it.? Maybe only a couple possible setting one would think? Or is this system infinite on adjustment to the ECU? That the case it could get ugly.

I had a Dyna GLide and used one of those XDEI kits o whatever they called it and it worked great on that bike.

Covered MANY times on this Forum, but in short, the stock narrow band sensors only monitor low speed throttle, and report to the ECU. If the 02-sensors sample out-of-range AFRs, they simply throw the CEL. NONE of the current Guzzi ECUs are fully adaptive using the 02-sensors, in any way.

What is a CEL?

If you get a code on this bike, will it flash on the instruments, or do you need a special tool to read those codes?

CEL = Check Engine Light - it's the yellow/amber light on the dash. Codes on the ECU need diagnostic electronics to pull and read them, like Alaris or sim.
