Noticed on my 012 today that the end of the fork tubes extend about 1/2" above the upper triple clamps. I am used to the tube cap being pretty much flush with the top of the triple clamp. Never noticed this before, but then again, was not really looking for it.

Does this sound normal for the 012 Stelvios. No big issues, just want to make sure it isn't slipping in the clamp. Everything is tight so don't believe that this is happening but none the less want to see what the norm is. The Service manual say nothing about this distance.

I raised the forks in my triple trees right after I bought my V7. It increases the turn in. U-turns are much easier. I was really having to fight the bike to make tight turns at slow speeds when the tops were flush. Just one of those things you do to make the bike fit you.

Yes it does (see below). The '09-10 50mm USD's were nearly flush. The '11-12 45mm USD forks must be slightly longer.

Thanks guys. Will need to remember to measure the overage before I do a fork service in order to put them back to their stock position.

Or p'raps the dealers messed about with them. My '09 came to me new just like Bruce describes below, with 1/2" of tube sticking up above the top of the clamp .....

Interesting. Here is a pic of my fork tube FYI. It has been this way since I took delivery of my bike in November 2009. It does not protrude above the clamp quite as much as the new NTX, but as Todd has indicated, the new fork tubes may be a little longer.
