Fram XG3614 oil filter instead of PH6022 for Griso 8v?

The Fram Ultra Guard is supposed to be a superb filter. Is there any reason NOT to use it vs. the PH6022? The sizes are almost the same, with the 3614 just minutely smaller. There is no Ultra Guard version of the 6022.

I have never used the words Fram and superb in the same sentence. There are so many better filters out there.
At the very least I would cut some filters apart before using one. Filters are pretty cheap, cutting one open to see how it is made is simple enough. I have cut a few filters open before putting one one one of my motorcycles. Every Fram I have cut apart was pretty poorly made inside. Things to look for are how are the end caps for the filter made and secured, and how many threads are in the base where it screws to the engine. Fram has, in the past, made the base plate too thin and had issues with the filter popping off under pressure. That tends to lead to catastophic engine failure, and sometimes a wreck. Fram also tends to use cardboard and other cheap materials inside where you can't see them (unless you cut one apart).
It is cheap insurance to cut one open before you use one.
 
That is funny. If you read the letter from Fram down at the bottom they go on explaining how the cardboard end disks allow a stronger glue bond to the filter media. Then they mention that when they strengthened the media the cardboard end caps were no longer able to be adequately bonded to the filter media. So they had to switch to metal end caps, which they had just explained were inferior to cardboard as you could not get as strong a bond with the media.
If you want to use a Fram filter, it is a free country. But I would at least cut one open and see how it is made before putting it on an internal combustion engine, especially one I cared about.
