2020 V7III Special
So per your original question, your bike has a manufactured (born) on date, and a model year date. It is standard for a early-model year production, to be badged as a year earlier. Your bike is NOT a V7 Mk III, it’s a 2021 E5 V7-850. For sure it’s 853cc as the stator cover and the wheels confirm it. The Mk III has a smaller swing-arm and rear rim with a 130/80-17 tire.

Look just a few photos above to see the wheel style. Thanks for posting your info here. Read up in this section now that you know what you have. Enjoy.
Thank you! This helps make some sense of it.

Man I been so confused with the title saying 2020, Bill of Sale said 2020. When i put the vin into GEICO to insure it, it came back 2020 Special. I'm still perplexed that on paper I have a 2020 but it's a 2021 with a different motor but I guess I'll move on.

What's still odd to me is that the side plastics common for the bike you said are on it (green plastics)... but they do not fit at all. They are ziptied on and the frame mounts are not even close. The seller gave me other plastics and said they were the original.

With all these things, including thinking I had a 2020 with a 850 motor some how (no dipstick, sight window, iridium plugs). Along with the the speedo and headlight I been thrown for a loop.

Thanks for the help... this helps me understand the story so I can maintain it properly and also understand what I am selling if I ever sell.

I can only speculate, but it wouldn’t be shocking if early model change-over frames missed the updated tabs for the new side-covers. Certainly an odd one, but everything on your bike says 2021 V7-850. To further confirm, and a mod worth doing, see the link below.

That is pretty weird ??
It would almost make me think that someone tried to « dress it up » as the anniversary model.
Yeah that's what the seller said. He said the previous guy went wild trying to make it look like the anniv model. Like it doesn't have the cool sticker on the front fender.. and all th docs say it's a 2020. But it has the dang 853 motor, headlight, wheels and speedo. Very confusing. I was hoping someone would see something in the fork/shock angles or something to confirm i have a 2020 frame with a bunch of 2021 parts.

Funny you say that, because something looked off on the shocks and side covers. See below. Sure enough. You have a V7 III E4 frame and E5 everything else. Pop the seat off and measure the frame rail width. That will confirm it. Next question is does the VIN # and Engine # match on the title. Something is suspect.

Look to be 1 inch rails ....7 inches apart where the cross brace is... My title didn't have a motor number but no they are different... I read that they don't usually match any more these days? But the tag is a AW (850 motor) when its supposed to be an AT (750) for this year. Wild... good news is i'm more confident i know what i have now.. so i can maintain it properly and disclose properly if i sell it.

I didn’t ask for tube size. Measure the width at the seat latch area, and perhaps someone here with a E5 bike can do the same, otherwise a photo of the back of the without the seat on will suffice. VIN# and engine numbers have never matched, but should be noted on the title. You shocks are likely way too long (hopefully not to cause UJ damage), and it looks like your oil level is way too high. You indeed have a bizarre Frankenstein bike. Not built by Guzzi that way. Hopefully the price you paid was far below going rate.

Roger, I had started to draft this convo in the appropriate section but someone engaged the topic here so I just responded accordingly. I also did post a pic of some measurements of the tail frame as ‘measure the width of the frame rails’ was a little vague to me.

At any rate, thanks for taking a peak this helped me a lot. I love the bike so I feel I got the value for my dollar. I’ll just ride the heck out of it so if I take a hit selling it, it won’t really matter to me.

Thanks again

Wish we coulda moved the thread instead of deleting so others might chime in but I got the info I was seeking.

I moved the posts to a new thread here that you are replying to. That person that engaged was me, the site owner and Guzzi-file since 1999. I don't get paid for my time nor get mostly even remotely close to being reimbursed for the site operation costs... I personally pay the significant site costs here (hosting, software, IT maintenance and back ups, etc) for 23+ years and counting.
Frame rail width request was simply a center-line to to center-line of frame rails. The E4 frames are significantly narrower at the seat latch than the E5s are, and have a different top shock mount location (and shorter shocks). E5 bikes have a wider swingarm and wheel.
Don't ignore my words above on the shocks and oil level, though most here often do. My last comments on this here.
See my moto resume HERE if you care to.
Enjoy the bike.

Thank you for all the info I really do appreciate it. I fear text based convos might convey something other than positive intent and for that I apologize.

I’ll do some research to make sure the right shocks are in it so I can avoid any potential wear on the drivetrain. Your suggestion is noted with gratitude. Cheers
