We all know: those motorcycle shows are dangerous.
Swung my leg over a Stelvio at a show in February. Just for fun as I really liked my Audace.
And it was nagging at me, so I traded my trusted Audace after 35k km of fabulous trips for this modern good looking thing. And I did so without a test ride. Taking the long way home I noticed s few things: it wants to tip into a the corners. Took me only a few kms to get used to it and now I like it.
The handlebar position from the factory is ridiculous and the bar sits really tight in the brackets even with the bolts fully undone. Bringing the bar back to position between 1 and 2 (the lines are visible at the front) changes the hand/arm positioning from uncomfortable to relaxed.
Now the big one:
Who in Mandello was too deep into the lunch time Prosecco when they decided on the factory suspension settings? They make your bones rattle like there is no suspension.
Front preload (turns from open) was 5.5 >> set to 10.
Front rebound (clicks from fully closed) was 9 >> set to 8.
Rear preload (turns from open) was 1 ?? >> set to 17.
Rear rebound (turns from closed ) was 1.25 >> set to 1.
Big shout out to BioKnee who posted the settings I used as a starting point. They were almost right on! Rides like a completely different bike. Love it.
Last thing: check the eclips on the windshield mechanism.. already lost one into the front fairing and another is only half on.
But what an awesome bike.
