Fuel seepage woes

Mine is an early Stelvio. Has anyone had a problem with fuel seepage around the filler cap causing the paint to lift? I'm not convinced that it's a poor seal that's causing it. Any thoughts?

This is a very common issue. My '09 did the same thing. The problem is the tipover, or fuel tank pressure release valve, which is located in the fuel filler area. This is a small plastic valve with a ball bearing inside that is intended to prevent gas from leaking out in the event the bike goes over on its side. Many of these valves seem to malfunction, causing gas to seep out and cause paint damage. I removed mine, and have not had a problem since. See this thread:

Go one step farther and remove the whole canister assembly / plumbing and route the overflow / vent down to the bottom of the bike and plug the connections at the cylinders.

Helps with low speed / partial throttle smoothness as well.

No problem, Gerry. These are great bikes, once you get the annoying little issues resolved!
