I'm having really hard time finding 85w90 stocked anywhere locally. Is it ok to use 80w90 or even 75w90?

Last week I rode in some chilly weather, 5-6*C and when cold shifting was very tough. Thinking going with 75w90 would actually help this.

Doing first service on the V7 racer.

I have been using the BRP 75/90 synthetic for about 40,000km now and noticed the difference. I worked in a Bombardier ATV shop and obtained it very cheap.

The 75W90 should be fine for the gearbox, but do stay with a 85W140 for the bevel drive.

Thanks guys. Exactly what I thought. Ended up with 80w90 GL5 from Spectro. 85w140 is going to rear drive. That's going to be fun filling up...what do you use for easy non-spill job?

Autoparts stores, as in AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly's, etc, have a variety of 85w90 available along with Mobil 1 V-Twin synthetic motorcycle engine oil, and the 85w140 for the rear end.

Checked couple of those but none had 85w90. Ended up buying a bottle of 80w90 from a local Jap-bike dealer.

Had to get creative with final drive fill - ended up using baby bottle to measure 170ml and to feed fluid from it via short piece of hose to the drive. Worked out well.

All the fluids changed and no leaks after 30min ride. I do see to have one lose valve in the right head I think. May have to open it again to check.
