Getting rid of the “BAG” on a Breva/Norge/12S:

1. Put bike on side stand
2. Using a 10mm deep socket with short extension remove the chin fairing.
3. Loosen the clamps on the head pipes. Using 10mm socket
4. Remove muffler. Use 10mm socket on clamp and 13mm end wrench and 6mm allen on muff bolt Remove spring.
5. Unscrew the O2 sensor and let it hang
6. Remove the bolts on the exh flanges and remove the head pipes. 13mm deep socket w swivel
7. Put an oil pan under the rear of the engine
8. Pull the 2 hanger bolts and slip the “BAG” rearward as far as possible
9. Reach under the rear of the engine and unscrew the oil line from the oil pan and move to the side of the motor so it is clear of the BAG.
10. Now slide the BAG forward and down and it will slide out the right side providing you have a large drain pan.
11. Reattach the oil line.
12. Remove the seat and disconnect the positive cable on the battery.
13. Remove the cover on the starter using an allen wrench
14. Using a 13mm end wrench unbolt the starter and slide it back.
15. Cut the ty-wrap holding the O2 sensor. DO NOT CUT THE WIRE! Just let it hang.
16. Reinstall the starter and cover. And reconnect the battery.
17. Reinstall the seat.

Installing the new Crossover is a reverse of the above.
1. Place the new crossover in place. Hang it on the rear hanger .
2. Place the clamps with split rings over the ends of the crossover.
3. Install the head pipes loosly do not tighten.
4. Align pipes side to side and the crossover front to back and check clearance.
5. Install the muffler. Checking alignment before tightening. Install spring
6. Tighten clamps and head pipe flanges
7. Install O2 sensor.
8. Reinstall Chin fairing.
9. Check oil and fill as necessary.
10. Wipe header pipes down with alcohol to avoid spotting.

OK...trying not to be a pain in Todd's ass, so I figured I'd see if you guys can help before I email him....

I got the new airbox cover installed tonight and am working on the y-pipe. Can't believe what a f@$^ing ordeal it was to get that catalytic converter out!

Planning on getting everything put back together later this week, but for those of you who have installed one of Todd's y-pipes, I have two questions:

First...I had to remove the head pipes to get the converter out. Can the nuts/washers/gaskets be re-used or should I be replacing all of the hardware?

Second...the old setup had fiber rings where the head pipes went into the converter, and clamps held everything together without leaking. Where the head pipe fits into the new y-pipe is much smaller...no room for the fiber ring, and the old clamp is too big. Should there be some type of gasket there, and what type of clamp did you use?

Thanks!

-Rick

Thanks Rick, reuse hardware (eye the gaskets at the heads), and my Y-pipe is slip fit. No gaskets or clamps required.

Sounds good...thanks, Todd! Once I get everything back together I'll reach out for a new map!

yep I fitted one of Todds y pipes to my Breva, ( so beautifully made they are ) tip was to have all slightly loose as in headers , y pipe , muffler etc , then jiggle till it all sits in place, and sure enough - when it did , tighten your nuts up . The std gasket to muffler is a bit naf. ( and expensive ) I cut mine across and added some black silastic there ...to give some wiggle room to how the muffler sat.
Cheers

A heavy paperweight too. The new pipe is so much lighter. Did you change that rocket launcher sized muffler yet? That's another 10 pounds off there.

yes i did. That went off as soon as I got the bike. reflash tool will be coming also with the y pipe

Mine had a white GPR on it when I bought it. You'll love the sound with the new Y-pipe. I had the reflash tool for a while and then went with the full Power Commander Autotune.
