My 2013 California Touring needs heated Grips - at least I am in for it.
To my idea everything is there, the extra lower button on the left handlebar, and I even dug up the two small connectors on the right side of the fueltank's front.
But why does nothing happen when pushing this very button? According to the user manual something like a cigar should appear in the display with the level of heating next to it.

Is it because I have to connect the Grips first? Ik can't imagine the system is that smart it has to detect the grips before enabling the heating feature.

Anyone ideas?

At least on the Stelvio they all have the setup for the heated grips, but not all came with them, do you have wires going to the grips? If not, you will have to buy some. Guzzi grips are $$$, but you can get Oxfords and use the Guzzi wiring if you want and are handy with changing the plugs.

Thanks for your response!

Yes the wires are there, and the Oxford Grips are right there,
But before connecting them I want to be sure the system is operative instead of refitting the connectors ( Yes, I am handy) and come to the conclusion it doesn't work.
So right now it is a software - ish issue: Is it normal nothing happens without installed Grips? Otherwise I have to make a temporary setup connecting the Oxford grips.

Don't recall if the icon comes on without the grips hooked up. I actually just used the Oxford wiring harness, since the Guzzi one looks like tiny wires and I figured Oxford matched the wiring to the grips.

I'm investigating the compatibilty of the both systems. Here I am testing the Oxford system. As expected, the Oxford controller works with a puls /pause system with a frequency of 1 second.
Now I want to do the same thing with the guzzi system, but I can't get it working.
I already discovered that each grip has to be connected to a separate connector, otherwise you will fry something inside the dashboard (2 amps Max. each connector)

I added the oem accessory heated grips to my 16 eldorado and they work like a charm. I didn't try to turn them on until they where installed and plugged in
