I tackled yet another DIY project and managed to install the OEM Heated Grips on my Stelvio V100. Let me tell you, it was a huge pain in the ass. The accelerator harness connection is hidden deep inside the headlight, and you've got to dismantle a ton of parts just to get at it. It was like a scavenger hunt in there, but not the fun kind. You need to be prepared for a big PITA job if you're thinking about doing this yourself. forgot to take pictures.

Feedback on the MG OEM heated grips:
  • They're not as HOT as the ones on my BMW R18 or BMW R1200GS. It's a bit of a letdown in terms of warmth.
  • Another gripe is that they reset to OFF every time you turn off the bike. What an inconvenience! It's like starting from square one each ride.
  • On a positive note, the system automatically recognized the grips without any need for dealer programming. Two thumbs up to Moto Guzzi for that seamless integration.

Best to plan on tackling multiple projects when removing the bodywork; install the heated grips, add some more power outlets and tighten up the wind screen mounts. I did it all the first time without the benefit of the manual and it was an all day project. One thing that did impress me, all of that bodywork went back together as flawlessly aligned as it was before it came off.

I use heated gloves, they are much warmer than heated grips as the heating elements are in the back of the glove.
