This is a gripe post: Anybody else having trouble with orders from Harper's Moto Guzzi? Delays, lost orders, broken promises, overcharged shipping, etc. I'd love to find an alternative, but for older V50ii parts, but there's not to many good options. I've heard good things about Elk Grove Moto Guzzi in California but they don't support older bikes. I suppose I'm left with eBay... Suggestions & ideas appreciated.

I’ve bought tons of stuff from Curtis and never had an issue like you described.

Strange.

I’ve also bought tons from MG Cycle with no issues.

MG Cycle is affiliated with Stein Dinse in Germany and they are simply awesome. My stuff from them comes in 2 - 3 days via DHL, and it’s always spot on perfect.

I have so far had a great experience dealing with Harpers.Been having a tough time gettig a windshield bracket for my Eldorado as some of the Moto Guzzi parts have been discontinued already for the 1400's.Called Harpers and the gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and gave me a few options as which way to proceed.

Harpers has helped me with parts for my V50 maybe for 4 decades. Never had an issue.

Just called them about parts for my V9 Roamer. Now they did not have them as they say there were part number changes and they have yet to figure out cross reference. Always helpful.

OH - Got the parts at MG Cycle.

Well, I tried out MG Cycle and it was great. No issues with delays or lost orders like with Harpers. I got my heads back from the machine shop too, but then I broke my hand a month ago so it's all going to have to sit in pieces for another couple months. Worst part about having a broken hand is not the broken bone or issues with work, it's not being able to ride!

I ordered a left heated grip for my Norge from Harpers in May. I called in June. Curtis answered right away. He said it was back ordered. I called again at the beginning of August and he answered. He sounded surprised and took a look. A minute later he said Piaggio cancelled the order because it is NLA and they never informed him. He gave me a refund immediately. He then said "I am losing so much money because of these guys, I might as well get a minimum wage job flipping burgers. At least then I'd have a steady income."
At the top of the page on his website this is what is written... If you have called me two or more times about your backordered parts and I have said I was waiting on Piaggio and you are upset, please call them to express your concerns 212-380-4400.

P.S. I think I found a solution to the grip issue. I'll post when I have positive news in a week or so.

I paid for a part I ordered at the M-G dealer here (Vancouver,B.C) in April , my last visit to the dealer said it was once again going to be delayed until (MAYBE) the end of August . There really there should be legal action taken , I mean how are they allowed to sell vehicles in North America . Imagine trying to use the lemon law , it'd be out of warranty before the first claim was attended to ! That's my rant . Peter

Let me sit in the middle here... On occasion, it can be a dealer delay, as they have a minimum to meet to order and affordable shipping costs. On the flip side, many items show no stock/back-order, and only after weeks to months does it appear as No Longer Available (NLA), often with no notice.
That said, it's the "Amazon world attitude" that is making many small business, like me, look forward to closing their doors for good.

I have no idea what percentage of their sales are in North America, but after visiting cities in Italy just last year , I've seen many more here . Think that would be an encentive to improve their presence here . Well a guy can hope :) .

Same thing that's been said for 25+ years that I've been involved. Our friend Scott here posted earlier on how little of a market segment MG has in North and South America. They don't care.
Aside from that, the parts issue is global. I remember when those that thought that Piaggio purchase of them would make everything "better." The argument stands.
MASSIVE thread diversion here from the original post in April '21. This will all likely be soon deleted.

Reading your post , when you mention how little of the North American market they hold , I was referring to the number of Moto-Guzzi bikes sold here compared to other countries. Certainly compared to Japanese or American bikes their numbers here are small . Would you know what percentage of their (M-G) sales are in North America? Thanks for your responses.
