Just 2000 miles into using my bike, I started hearing an unsettling jingling noise when braking, and upon inspection, I was shocked to find both front rotors were loose. That's the kind of discovery that sends a chill down your spine, considering how critical brakes are for safety.

I thought I could just tighten them up and be done with it, but nope, that was wishful thinking. The situation escalated to needing a full rotor replacement. What a design oversight! You'd think rotors would stay put, not come loose after only 2000 miles of hard braking, leading to such an extensive fix. Now, I'm diving into whether this fiasco can be handled under warranty. Here's hoping the manufacturer takes responsibility for this, because no one should be shelling out extra for what seems like a manufacturing or design issue, especially this early on.

I'll keep you in the loop on how my warranty claim pans out.

I recently had to take my motorcycle back to the dealer for a couple of issues. First off, I had to get the quick shifter programmed.

While I was there, I also had to address a more concerning issue. I noticed some metal to metal (jingle kinda sound) when braking, and upon inspection, it turned out both front rotors were loose. That's a bit of a scare since brakes are not something you want to play around with. So, I had to leave the bike with them.

Initially, I figured a simple tightening would get those rotors working properly again, but boy, I was wrong. It ended up being a full replacement scenario. Talk about a design flaw. I mean, who would expect loose rotors to come loose (may be in hard braking) to the point of needing a complete replacement? Now, I'm on the hunt to see if this can be sorted through the warranty route. Fingers crossed that the manufacturer will cover this, because this kind of issue shouldn't be on the rider to fix out of pocket in warranty period with less than 2k miles on your bike ODO.

I'm hoping this service visit will wrap up smoothly so I can enjoy the ride.
Yssd2020 I remember this happening for a couple of Mandello owners. I just went into my garage to check mine, thanks for reporting this. Really hope you get compensated by Piaggio. Please update.

Its not a "solid rotor' , I wouldnt worry in the slightest.. in fact the time to worry is when to bobbins are ceased ...or at least it was the case on my old sport. theres movement in my v100 , but the brakes work exceptionally so who cares
as Todd said do a search on this website or check out some of the vid's on you tube and just enjoy the ride

Of course its not Solid. But the spec for lateral play is 0,15mm. If you have the disc moving 2 or 3 mm that is something to worry about.

For those who want to keep their bike Italian, both below are available. We can get higher end/thicker rotors as well, Contact us via the STORE tab above.

Update: The dealer swapped out both rotors under warranty, no hassle.

Moto Guzzi’s sitting on a solid bike with the Stelvio—it’s got the right stuff to take on the ADV crowd. They just need to up their game on customer service and throw some smarter advertising into the mix to grab a bigger slice of the adventure segment pie. The ingredients are there; they just need to cook it right.
