lubricating clutch cable

There is an inexpensive tool you can purchase from Amazon. Search “cable lubrication tool”.
~ 5 €

It allows you to attach this tool at the lever end of the cable, which will then direct a spray of cable lubricant directly into the cable itself.

You also want a good quality cable lube spray made for this purpose. This is just an example.
~ 10 €

Hope this helped you.

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering if the Guzzi cables are teflon lined or not?
They have a plastic lining. If your clutch cable is working fine I'd tend to leave it alone. I think the product Scott shows would be good, but some may tend to gum up the works.

thanks for the reply. The cable is not too supple; may be just replace it?
That is what I would do. Carry the old one as a spare for emergencies, like a cable breaking. On my LeMans, I keep a full set of cables on board. I have had to replace a clutch cable on the side of the road.

I have found those cable oilers messy , half the stuff leaks out , I still use it but if I have the time I have made a small funnel out of plasticene ( kids modelling dough ) around the top of the cable outer , ( cable released from lever and pretty much vertical ) and tip a bit of your fave cable lubricating potion ( I aint getting into that :D) and let gravity do the rest .
Also if one has a scratchy feeling cable and normal wear is the suspect a bit more time can sometimes be gained by freeing up both ends of the outer and rotating it 1/2 a turn around the inner and retighten the outer adjuster. The outer is not usually all that cooperative :)

simple question; how to lubricate the clutch cable of a lemans 3. With oil?
I had an aerosol can of lithium grease in my hand the other day, I sprayed the pivot point on the lever, not that the clutch was heavy. Quite surprised that the clutch action was a bit lighter. The clutch on my 1994 Cali' 3 is actually lighter than the hydraulic clutch on my 2004 BMW 1150GS
