• Ciao Guest, The owner of this website and GTMotoCycles.com lost his home completely on the morning of January 8th in the L.A. Wildfire Storm. Most of his neighborhood is gone, and a few friends were killed along with their pets. The GTM SHOP and STORE are functioning normally, but we DEMAND EXTREME PATIENCE on orders as we are a SMALL business and Todd usually has his hands on nearly every order before it goes out. Just got the bike. Noticed leaks on the first weekend. Second weekend the leak is persistent. A drop a ride about.

Anybody experiencing anything similar? Looks like something that'd just be ignored for the most part if it wasn't new :)

I would probably put a torque wrench on all of the crankcase bolts and tighten to recommended values from the service manual (no higher) in cross pattern sequence to see if that stops the leak before taking it back to the dealer.. Otherwise point it out to the dealer by phone and probably ride until the 900 mile service; then drop it off for service and repair.

No, I have not experienced leaks like that on my V85TT so far.

Ok, thanks.

Yeah the leak is very slight so my plan is to let it leak until the first service without cleaning it up and see what the dealer thinks.

I got 566 miles and first service is at 900.

Didn't want to muck with it at all, that way I don't need to explain what I did.

Yes mine leaks from the same area, I think the factory has not applied the sealant correctly, as some is evident outside of the joint. I gave the fasteners a little nip up with a spanner which has helped a little, but I do not think it is going to develop into a major leak.

I took posession of my 2022 this past saturday and noticed it right after pickup. As I DIY everything I own and live over 500 miles from a dealer will problably just monitor and retorque bolts to see if it helps. Should it need any work within the warranty period, then would point it out to the closest dealer. Like about 99% of anything you buy these days, nothing is perfect and every thing out there has issues. Sad state of affairs our world is in when it comes to the quality of anything.

Re-torque is not the answer as it may cause damage. You are not 500 miles from a dealer, there is one in Murfreesboro TN and in Marietta GA. Do yourself a favor and have a dealer make the repair under warranty.

Meant to say 500 round trip..Let me rephrase.....check the torque, not retorque. But even that would probably not help if its truly a mis applied section of sealer as it appears to be. I will only worry about it if it gets worse than the slight weep it appears to be AND I have another need to go see a dealer.

Recent new diesel truck purchase, had an rtv sealed section of intake gasket that was poorly assembled at the factory, within under 1k miles went to throwing an evaporative emission code....ends out that section of intake was only hand tight, checking torque showed this to be the case as all bolts were quite loose, fixed that problem. Dealer wanted me to leave it with them for a week, I said not thanks at the moment.
A bit different than this mating surface, but all the same an rtv'd joint that will not hurt one bit for a retired ASE master mechanic to checks its torque, B4 relying on a dealer a days drive away.. Still not going to worry about it much unless its worse than a light weep. I have only ridden it 20 miles, and it could just be residual left over from some phase of assembly. Willcheck tq, wipe it off, see if it comes back, then go from there.

I have a 2020 V85TT Adventure, owned about 6 months. I bought it with 140 miles, now it has 3800 miles. I was just poking around and noticed oil weeping back from the front left side of the block, looking like it comes from the seal between the cylinders and the case. (First 2 pics)

On the right side there is less oil, but some also there. I also noticed black silicone sealant on that seam. (Third pic, screwdriver is pointing at sealant.)

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I be worried? Should I try torquing anything? Since I got it I have ridden it normally, and gave it a break-in oil change and valve adjustment at 950 miles. Nothing else remarkable about it's use. Could the Givi engine guards have cause some stress? I can't think of anything else. No signs of any drops or damage to the bike.

I had this problem in my V7 Special 2022 ,bought new, put 2500 kms on it. As mentioned above, bolts were loose, gave them specialised torque ( not more) and loctite, no leak since then.

After starting a new thread on the same issue, I learned this has been discussed before. (Thanks admins!)

Just curious - can you add anything about the outcome of your leak? Was it repaired under warranty? I bought mine "nearly new" with less than 200 miles, but it was outside of its warranty period.

Keep in mind that Moto Guzzi bikes are hand built, by people who the
family has been employed there for generations! All good. :)

Following up on my message above: I took my bike to Euro Cycle Sonoma, thinking it might be necessary to have them split and reseal the crankcase halves. They found the front cover bolts were loose, retorqued those and the crankcase nuts, and it has been all dry for a couple hundred miles.
