Hi all

I'm a bit desperate at the minute as I have no clue anymore what do do/check, as my electric skills are a little limited. Nothing happens anymore on my Special. Here's the whole story. Hopefully someone gives me a good tip.

It all started as 'bad contact' right below the key switch (I don't know all the technical terms in english, I hope you understand me...). I had no time to have it fixed as I really had to leave urgently. A guy from the bikeshop dropped by and told me it was a bit lengthy to fix... unless we connect both cables red and green together. Problem: you can start without a key. But hey, I didn't have the choice and did that.

Back home with a bit more time I decide to try and install an m.lock from motogadget, that I could hide nicely on the bike, and no one could too easily still the bike by just connecting 2 cables together.
I have it 'nicely' installed, and... nothing. no contact. It's supposed to work with bikes that don't have an immobilizer, and I guess my V7 does not have one, as I could start it just connecting 2 cables together. But still, I assume there's something wrong with my install.
I disconnect the m.lock, back to standard set up. Connecting both cables together: nothing. No light, nothing on display. The battery is charged. I tried another battery too. I checked the fuses, they are ok. And now I'm clueless.

Anyone has an idea?

Cheers
Johann

Honestly, for me anyway, translations are a bit tough to decipher.
The v7 series has two faults that keep showing up. First is the starter buttons get dirty. Flushing them out with electronic cleaner, or preferably Deoxit seems to cure them. At the same time flush out the ignition switch.
The switch itself might have a wire broken off on the bottom. The wires are under stress on some bikes. Remove it and re-solder it.
Clean and make sure the battery cables are tight and make sure you remove the ground cable from the bell housing and clean it up too. Most are corroded right from the factory.
