Noisy Norge left side

not the ECU

checked right side for chain sprocket aligning at TDC - my straw in the spark plug hole rising up and down is moving freely, chain taught and sprocket aligns at 6 o'clock at TDC

checked left - tappets are not opening or closing at all when i turn the motor via the alternator bolt at front, no movement at all. chain is taught and spins round and my straw risies and falls but tappets dont move at all- what has blown up

You won't know until the engine is disassembled. Has the bike been rollerized?

I rollered it three and a but years ago, never had any probs including trip to Mandello two years ago

Glad you found tooth jumped. Now it has to be pretty exact TDC on compression stroke to pin gear to cam and tighten sprocket bolt w/locktite to 22ftlbs. Make sure the big hole in fluted oil slinger is NOT lined up w/pin or the pin can come out.

loosened off the chain etc to move the sprocket - the pin came with it - appears to have come adrift from the shaft. i assume the pin should be solidly fixed to the shaft. it hasn't broken and is out clean, I could put it back but it would wiggle out again

looks like a new shaft required - is the shaft different to the flat tappet shaft or same

found out that the pin sits in the shaft and the sprocket, it is not a fixed part. back in and waiting to see if all is better

Sounds good, easy tick over revs above 5j. Took it for a test run alls well old habit of stuttering at slow is back as it is on the old map and no Finbau

Git home to discover oil leak right side

Probably the oil return line. I just replaced both of mine in the spring. They split at the end fitting.

Oil return split as suggested, easily fixed. Took bike out for 150 mile spin and falls well, running fine except at slow speeds so map is next on the list

Thanks to all
