Any suggestions on mounting a Garmin Zumo?

Gordon in Norman

Hello;

So first you have to decide.. left hand or right hand.

I am left handed so it was:

I got a Ram top-of-the-clutch-reservoir mount. Then a 1 inch clamp and the standard ram mount that comes with the Zumo. Do you have the XM interface?? If so then you might want to turn it around as opposed to have it stick out the back where it will interfere with the swing of the handle bars on the wind screen. The pix I uploaded shows the WRONG way. I don't have a shot.. but just turn the mounting plate around so it comes over the top of the Zumo.

Hope this helps.

Here is a pic of mine....

Picked up the connection behind the TripleTree under the tank and cut off connection to attach Garmin connection. RamBall mount to windshield bolt for great view of GPS and road while not blocking instruments cluster.

Good luck!

What I did is included in one of the threads that Nick mentions and here: http://tinyurl.com/Zumo-550-Norge-Install

That said, after looking at all others (thank, Nick ... just what I needed, another distraction :whistle: ), I think I'd follow sempervee's lead (just above this reply) were I to do it again.

Aside from the "clean" installation, i.e., no drilling into that plastic (and expensive) triple-tree plate, the unit's position is, IMO after 4 years of use, about as good as it gets.

I used one of these:

and did it like this BMW guy (I don't have a pic of it on the Guzzi)

except I put mine on the right side (out of the way of the key)
