Not what you want to find when doing an oil change

I doubt I’ll get to know the new motors like all others to date, so no guess from me on what that is. Do keep us posted. Swarf on drain plug isn’t alarming. Did you check the valve lash?

Yeah, I’m not worried about the swarf, just the ~1cm piece of metal :). I haven’t checked anything else at this point as I’m waiting to hear back from the dealer.

I’ll certainly circle back once there is a root cause analysis. That will probably take awhile, but we will see. My dealer is picking the bike up next Wed.

Just curious, was it running ok… had you noticed anything different? Smoothness, sound… Looks like something “cast” chipped, or cracked off inside. Good luck!

It was running well - I went for a 170 mile ride on Tuesday and didn’t notice anything amiss.

Not only do you have a potential problem with the motor....it looks like you have the oil drain plug and metal bits sitting on your living room floor. Has your wife figured out you change oil on her white carpet?

LOL, that would be a VERY serious problem indeed. Luckily, you're just looking at an extreme close-up of a bounty paper towel :-D
